Apple embrace HTML5

Apple has launched a revamped website introducing some subtle, yet sleeker features. These new tweaks take on board some of the new features that HTML5 has to offer. In contrast to the previous clean grey navigation bar, users are now treated to a darker, glossy navigation bar, powered purely by HTML5.

Using HTML5, elements such as animated page layouts and elements (for Mac and iPod pages) and dynamically resizing search field, add a touch of class. Along with this, there are a more robust set of features for mobile users. Of course, the majority of these are only small tweaks, and a large majority of its users probably won’t notice the difference!

Apple have been working very hard to keep up to date with the latest web and mobile standards on all of their devices, so it only seems natural that their own site uses them too. They quote “Every new Apple mobile device and every new Mac — along with the latest version of Apple’s Safari web browser — supports web standards including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Standards aren’t add-ons to the web. They are the web.”
